Halo: SA Lite is the first game for Windows Phone set in the Halo universe, in which you step into the sandals of a Spartan in your fight against the Covenant. In this combat game shot from an overhead perspective you'll have to fight against the usual enemies from the saga accompanied by other soldiers from your ranks. You'll have weapons you already know and you'll be able to drive tanks and other combat vehicles to achieve your goal.
Another perspective for Halo
The first thing that grabs your attention in Halo: SA Lite, if you've played previous versions on a console, is the game perspective, which is overhead. Owing to this, you'll see the full scene and your comrades, as well as seeing the character you're controlling.
When it comes to the story, it takes place between Halo 3 and Halo 4, and Halo: SA Lite basically consists of chaotic battles between Spartans and the members of the Covenant. The scene is limited by the fact that you can only move to the left or the right to a fixed point, dealing with enemies as you come across them.
As in other games in this style, while you're defeating your rivals you can steal weapons, as well as reloading your own at the reload points that you'll find throughout the game.
Playing with your hands
Halo: SA Lite rises to the challenge of adapting a game like this to a smaller touch screen such as the Windows Phone pretty well.
Although we recommend you follow the tutorial to understand all of the possible moves, as well as controlling all the weapons and vehicles, Halo: SA Lite has reasonably intuitive controls if you've played other similar titles: the lower left hand corner is for moving the character and lower right hand corner's for aiming and shooting. All the controls are on the screen, as well as a map and the weapon selector.
Graphically speaking, Halo: SA Lite is very accomplished, although the atmosphere is rather on the dark side, and the camera's so far away it prevents you from really appreciating what you see on screen.
Spartans on your mobile
If you're a fan of the Halo saga and you want to follow its adventures, or even if you simply love action games, you'll like Halo: SA Lite. Limitless action, weapons to choose, tanks and frenetic and interminable battles are the ingredients that make Halo: SA Lite a game to snap up for Windows Phone.
